One day, while folding models out of Jeremy Shafer's "Origami to Astonish and Amuse," It occurred to me that, although Shafer had designed a very nice Swiss Army knife and pair of nail clippers, I had never seen an origami pair of scissors. This model has a rather muddy history compared to some of my others, but it seems to have gone through multiple iterations during car rides and other times when I was bored and had origami paper on hand. However, this is the only one I have documented and the only one I folded with the intent of it looking good.
I chose to use a simple offset waterbomb base for the model so that it would simple and straightforward to fold as well as capable of actually operating, if folded with strong enough paper (which my model is not). In my final model, I chose to use tissue foil to give the scissor's blades a metallic appearance and am very satisfied with my result. |
