Original Artwork by Aiden Stephan

Multimedia Art

I like to do art (hands on, non digital) in most medias and have been drawing (with the help of my mother) since I was four.  More recently, my creation of nice pieces has been sporadic at best, but I still sketch little things daily, especially origami ideas. I have most recently been experimenting with oil paint, pencil, and crayons. I usually do not title my work, so the names here are meant to be short - and perhaps temporary - labels for each piece.

Horse

I drew this picture as a birthday present for a good friend of mine who happens to particularly like horses.  I created the illustration from a set of graphite pencils (from 6H to 6B) and implemented charcoal in the creation of the background.

Owls

I received this project as a birthday present some time ago and just recently finished it.  I actually created this piece of art from a large scratchboard that already had some of the owls' basic details printed onto it. Despite scratchboards often being regarded as a simple kid's project, some very impressive artwork has been created with them.

Vought F4U Corsair

This is the product of one of my first forays into exerimentation with watercolor painting. I think the plane came out well, but the background could use some significant improvement.

Dragon - Pencil
I drew this dragon as a Christmas present for my uncle in 2012. It was made entirely with one, normal type pencil (I do not remember lead hardness) and for the final product, I burnt the edges and created an undeniably cool old, worn manuscript effect using tea, coffee and apple juice.

Sunset - Oil
I made this painting following a Bob Ross painting tutorial. It was my first oil painting ever and despite some troubles I had with Ross's "wet on wet" technique, it went surprisingly well. I have done other paintings with oil also, but I am often frustrated by the medium because of it's reluctance to dry fully. I think that this may have to do with the paints I bought, but it takes at least three weeks for it to get to where it is even recoatable.  After that amount of time I have inevitably started other projects and lost interest in the original piece.

Picture
Barn - Tempura
I painted this for an art display at a local library. It is modeled after a photo of a very pretty scene I found online and decided to make my own rendition of.

Picture
Wolf - Tempura
This painting was originally a paint by number, so it is not completely my own work, but I changed some of the colors and the end product differed greatly from the original.

Barn Owl - Tempura
For many years my mother gave art classes for children through grants and our local library. One particular week, the assignment was to paint birds, so I did an owl. I was surprised by how good the result was, but wanted better. So, a few months later, I painted this as a gift for our dentist, who decorates her office with pictures made by her patients. It is still there now.
