I started doing digital art when I was 9 or 10 and a neighbor/renter started giving me Photoshop lessons. I took a lesson from him for a few hours once or twice a month and partook in many of my own experiments. Along with some help from my Photoshop expert uncle, I have gained a fairly thorough understanding of the program and still use it weekly. I have experimented briefly with a number of other art programs, but Photoshop is one of the very few that have emerged as a lasting favorites for me.
Photo Augmentation
The following are photographs that have been imported into Photoshop and then edited in various ways to create a new piece. It is in this way that I most frequently use the program.
Artwork From Scratch
Still one of may favorite things to use Photoshop for, creating things from scratch using only the tools in the program can be very challenging and quite time consuming. It is also fun and can have very rewarding results.
Hybrid Creations
The best of both worlds, pictures hybridized between the imaginary world of Photoshop and the real world can have some of the most entertaining and interesting results of all. They can also be some of the most realistic looking, making the strangest products of my imagination come to life in seemingly plausible ways. My sister, although not particularly skilled, is very creative with the program and we often work together to makes all sorts of crazy creations.
