Walking Stick Insect in Flight 6.0 |
Creation 2 |
I was really happy with this version. It almost came out better than version 6.0. However, the wing covers were too short for my satisfaction.

My fourth flying stick insect, this is where the series of models really started to improve over the earlier versions. Overall, I was quite happy with the result, and it's slim proportions and long legs. However, I felt the abdomen was to short and had no segments, the wings were too "fluffy" looking and the whole thing seemed to lack the delicate gracefulness real stick insects posses. I also folded this model out of Glassine which I spray painted and "dunked." It took me some time and quite a few substandard models to get over this phase of submerging my models. As a side note, spray painting works surprisingly well as a coloration method for origami pieces, although I wouldn't recommend using it except as a last resort.

Although not visually impressive, I was happy that this model finally deviated from the fat, short legged theme my previous variants had seemed determined to stick to.

A considerable improvement over the first attempt, this model's wings were it's starring feature. The color changes also looked pretty cool and I was able to successfully incorporate eyes. However, the legs were too short and the body possessed a distinctly stubby appearance that I was immediately dissatisfied with, leading to variation 3.0
